Mairead has been involved with the study and practice of Yoga since 1971. In 1979 she was one of the first teachers in     N.Ireland trained by Swami Satyamurti Saraswati. For the following 10 years she worked with Satyamurti as co-director of Bihar School of Yoga Ireland. During this decade she made several extended study trips Satyananda ashrams (www.yogavision.net) in India and Singapore.

During the 1990’s Mairead explored many other approaches to human development. As well as formal study in Christian spirituality, she completed Foundation Studies in Psychosynthesis and Family Therapy. She qualified as a Stress Management Therapist and Teacher of Sacred Dance

By 2000, drawn to the teachings of TKV Desikachar, she started individual tuition with Hanne Gillespie, Director of Clonlea Yoga Studio in Blackrock. (www.clonlea-yoga-studio.com) Convinced of the benefits of this approach, she embarked on a new phase of study with Paul Harvey at the Centre for Yoga Studies in Bristol. (www.yogastudies.org) to become a registered Association for Yoga Studies practitioner (www.ays.org.uk).

Mairead is currently continuing her studies in Yoga with a group of senior teachers who meet for regular workshops/seminars in France and England with Danish teacher Peter Hersnack (www.art-of-yoga.fr)
